Barbara J. Crowe, 67, of Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday morning, June 28, at Reid Hospice in Richmond.
She was born February 15, 1944 to Lawrence J. and Ruth Margaret Lawler Baumer. She graduated from Whitewater High School in 1962.
Barbara worked briefly at S.S. Kresge in Richmond before accepting employment at Belden, where she retired in 2007 after 42 years of service. She never met a stranger and put that philosophy to work late in 2010 when she became a greeter at Meijer until illness forced her back into retirement in early 2011. Barbara was a faithful member of Bethesda Worship Center. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and friends and the fishing trips she took with her husband, Paul.
Barbara will be missed by her husband of 35 years, Paul, of Williamsburg; sons, Rod York and wife, Debbie, of Fountain City; Todd York and wife, Pam, of Leo; Jay Crowe and wife, Cecilia, of Richmond; Mitch Crowe, of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Roseanne Blair and husband, Bill, of Richmond; brothers, Louis Baumer and wife, Lois, and Larry Baumer and wife, Belinda, all of Fountain City, and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson, C. Paul Crowe; and 1 brother, Daniel T. Baumer.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Kendall Harris at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1 at the Bethesda Worship Center, 2200 Peacock Road, Richmond. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, at the Bethesda Worship Center.
