William R. “Bill” Grable, 82, passed away peacefully Friday, June 17, at Sterling House of Richmond.
He was born October 21, 1928 in Wayne County, Indiana, the son of William J. and Pauline Atkinson Grable. He graduated from Webster High School in 1946 and attended Ball State University and Richmond Business College. He married the former Doris McKee on November 18, 1951. He served as an MP in the US Army during the Korean War. He returned home to a career with Wayne Dairy, where served on the Board of Directors and retired as personnel manager in 1992. He was a charter member of Faith Trinity United Methodist Church and served over 35 years as financial secretary there. He was a member of Webb Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Mr. Grable is survived by his daughter, Teresa Catey and her husband, Stan; 3 granddaughters, Olivia, Paige and McKenzie, all of Monee, Illinois; a special friend, who he thought of as a daughter, Debby Esarey, of Fountain City; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Grable was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, on February 14, 2001.
Private funeral services were held for Mr. Grable on Monday, June 20 followed by entombment in Earlham Mausoleum.
