Robert E. âBobâ Meadows, 82, of Greens Fork, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle.
He was born on November 19, 1930 in Spencer, Indiana to Merle and Frances Meadows. He served in the US Army He married the former Fola Joan Swain on December 23, 1952. They were blessed with 2 children and 57 years of marriage before her death on September 24, 2010.
Mr. Meadows attended IU East and Earlham College over the years. He was formerly a mechanic at Kurdyâs Chevrolet in Richmond and worked as a project engineer and later headed the engineering department at the former Wayne Corp. He was an avid trap shooter and NTPA tractor puller when better health permitted. He enjoyed taking his annual fishing trip to Kentucky Lake, wintering in his motor home in Melbourne Beach, Florida and playing euchre with his friends in Economy. Mr. Meadows was a member of Hagerstown Masonic Lodge #49, F & AM. He had served on the board of Greens Fork South Cemetery and was a former chief of the Greens Fork Fire Department.
Mr. Meadows will be missed by his daughter, Julie Gregory (Jerry Johnson), of Richmond; son, Brent Meadows, of Hagerstown; sister, Patricia Wyatt (John), of Richmond; grandchildren, Alexandra M. Meadows, Joshua Robert Gregory, Nicholas Baker and Adrienne Baker; daughter-in-law, Jamie Meadows; and son-in-law, Scott Gregory. He also leaves behind with gratitude his special friends and caregivers, Wendy Wilkinson and Corinne Ferrara.
A Masonic memorial ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A funeral ceremony will take place immediately following and the Wayne County Honor Guard will conclude with military rites
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. â 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at the funeral home.
Private burial will be held in Greens Fork South Cemetery.
