Marvin L. âBudâ McEwen, Sr., 80, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, July 19, at his residence.
He was born October 7, 1931 in Tilley, New Brunswick, Canada to Arthur and Hazel Wright McEwen, both of whom preceded him in death. He married the former Phyllis Turner on December 1, 1951. They lived in the Richmond and Fountain City communities, where they raised 5 children and shared 53 years of marriage before her death on November 19, 2005. He enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering.
Bud worked 35 years for General Telephone Co. before retiring in 1990. He then started McEwenâs Phone Service and operated it until his retirement in 2010.
Bud will be missed by his children: Marla Hunt and her husband, Jay, of Bastrop, TX; Sue Johnson and her husband, Charles, of Piedmont, AL; Shere Mazur and her husband, Michael, of Fort Wayne; Marvin âBuddy McEwen, Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Brookville; Robert McEwen and his wife, Kelly, of Cleveland, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Max Knight at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the funeral home.
