Mr. Buddy F. Lane, 87, of Fountain City, passed away on Monday, November 28.
He was born in Lynn, Indiana on July 20, 1929 to Basil R. and Estella V. Frame Lane, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War Two. After his discharge in 1949, he finished high school and was a 1950 graduate of Richmond High School.
Mr. Lane enjoyed a career as a design engineer. He held several patents and worked for Natco, the Atomic Energy Commission, Sperry Gyroscope, Avco, Hobart, Union Carbide and AVX before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars and homes, collecting old radios and fishing.
Mr. Lane will be missed by his daughters & sons-in-law, Teresa & Marlin Dees, Deb & Mitch Thompson, Karen & Scott Newkirk and Cathy & Dan Hurley; son & daughter-in-law, Joe & Tina Lane; seven grandchildren, Christina Hopkins, Diane Canterbury, Casey OâDell, Ryan Thompson, Mack Hurley, Lane Hurley and Madison Hurley; seven great-grandchildren, Cassidy Hopkins, Joshua Hopkins, Garrett Mead, Wendy Canterbury, Sunny Canterbury, Mitchell OâDell and Carolyn OâDell; sister, Alice Graham.
Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ethel Hammond Lane, sister, Jeanne Solomon and one infant brother.
A service for Mr. Lane will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30 in the Earlham Mausoleum Chapel.
