Carolyn (Wilson) Sandlin age 89, left her earthly home on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Carolyn was a loving, giving person and was ready to join her heavenly Father. “I once was lost, but now I’m found. Was blind, but now I see.”
Carolyn was born in Rushville, Indiana on April 29, 1935 to Isaac & Mary Wilson. They moved to Laurel, Indiana, where she graduated from Laurel High School in 1953.
Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Paul Sandlin, on July 11, 1953, 71 years ago this week. Paul & Carolyn moved to Fountain City, Indiana in 1961 and have called it home ever since. Carolyn worked at Friends Fellowship Community when it first opened and served its residents for 20 years. She later worked at Piece Goods Fabric Store. Carolyn was a talented seamstress and could sew anything. She also loved working with flowers and took care of the flowers in Fountain City Park for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Richmond and formerly served as Treasurer of Richmond Women’s BSF for many years. She was a 50+ year member of Brookville Chapter #449, Order of Eastern Star.
Carolyn leaves behind her husband, Paul; son, Ron Sandlin & wife, Betty; daughter, Karen Chaney & husband, Tim; granddaughter, Sara Fry & husband, Michael; great-granddaughter, Makayla Fry; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother, James Wilson & wife, Yvette; sister, Kathleen Wilson and several nieces & nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac & Mary Wilson; and an infant brother, Bobby Wilson.
Carolyn’s family wishes to thank Brickyard Healthcare North for the excellent care they provided to her.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. on Friday, July 12, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home. 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A funeral ceremony will begin at Noon, with interment to follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
