Mr. Charles W. âChuckâ Blunk, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26 at Arbor Trace in Richmond.
He was born in Mitchell, Indiana on October 4, 1935 to Woodrow âHankâ and Mary Thornburg Blunk. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1954. He married the former Nancy Mills on July 4, 1954. They shared nearly 63 years together and were blessed with six children.
Chuck once served in the Army National Guard. He worked 35 years as a machinist at Natco before taking a job at Industrial Grinding in Dayton, from where he retired. Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Richmond. He enjoyed woodworking and drawing. He enjoyed playing golf and following many of the area high school sports teams. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and IU Basketball. He was a former member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge #493, Williamsburg Fire Department, Williamsburg Lions Club and former Little League coach in Williamsburg.
Chuck will be missed by his wife, Nancy; daughters, Cindy Day and her husband, Mark; Jane Swearingen; sons, Michael Blunk; Jim Blunk and his wife, Melanie; eight grandchildren, Jere (Eric) Soehngen, Amanda (Russell) Hepner, Kara (Larry) Day, Caleb Smith, Joshua Day (Tiffany Harsh), Ryan (Michelle) Day, Chris (Kylee) Ayers and Jameson Duke; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Satterfield; sister-in-law, Betty Blunk; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Phyllis Mills Summers and several nieces & nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steve Blunk and Bill Blunk; sister, Debbie Blunk and brother, David Blunk.
Chuckâs life will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the First United Methodist Church, 318 National Road West in Richmond.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 31, at the church.
