Charles was a faithful member of the Lynn Church of the Nazarene, serving on the Board for several years, as a Sunday School teacher, and with his wife as Youth Director for almost 20 years at the church. He was a lifetime faithful servant of God. He was a 30 year member of the Fountain City Volunteer Fire Department and served on the town board. He enjoyed remodeling and woodworking. He also loved all things mechanical and attended many shows dedicated to tractors, cars and steam engines.

Charles will be missed by his wife and round-the-clock caregiver, Joyce McDonald; brother-in-law, Bill Trew, of Fountain City; sister-in-law, Nancy Hill, of Winchester; nieces, Ruth Ann Fouse (Danny), of Winchester; Becky Zornes (Gary), of Seattle, Washington; Korie Trew, of Mazatlan, Mexico; nephews, David Hill (Brenda), and Tim Hill, all of Winchester; great-nieces and great-nephews, David (Anita Fouse, Lisa (David) Hayes, Stephanie Talbot, Chasity Hill, Josh Hill, Jessica Adcock and Jacob Hill.
