Chauncey W. Slick

Mr. Chauncey W. Slick, 93, of Richmond, formerly of the Bethel area, passed away at 4:44 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.


Born August 7, 1914 in Randolph County, he was the son of Hibbert "Chalk" and Bertha Ullery Slick, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1932 graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Indiana University. He operated a poultry hatchery for many years and continued farming until retiring in 1987. He enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, Florida and had lived in the Richmond area for the past several years.


Mr. Slick will be missed by his wife, the former Eileen Wilcox, of Richmond; his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Diane Slick, of Lynn; grandson, Bo Slick and his wife, Leann, and Shane Slick; a great-granddaughter, Emma Slick.


In addition to his parents, Mr. Slick was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Crystal R. Slick.


A funeral ceremony was conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment was in Hollansburg Cemetery.
