Clarence E. Ross, 74, Fountain City, passed away Thursday, October 27, at Hospice of Reid Hospital.
He was born December 28, 1936 in Hamilton, Ohio to Clifford and Margaret Lagedrost Ross. He married the former Jean Hughes on October 27, 1956. Together, they raised 4 sons. Mr. Ross farmed all of his life and was formerly employed by Lynn Tool, Fountain City Elevator and National Trucks & Parts. He was a longtime member of the Williamsburg Lions Club where he served as treasurer and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Druids and enjoyed dancing when better health permitted.
Mr. Ross will be missed by his wife Jean, of Fountain City; sons, Don Ross and his wife, Mary, of Winchester; Dan Ross and his wife, Sherri, of McKinney, Texas; and Rick Ross and his wife, Traci, of Fountain City; 8 grandchildren, Chris Ross, Matt Ross, Cory Ross, Jordan Ross, Austin Ross, Sierra Ross, Julia Calvelage and Joshua Ross; 4 great-grandchildren, Dylan Ross, Carleigh Ross, Tyler Calvelage and Jacob Calvelage; 1 sister, Rita Burns, of Hamilton, OH; 1 brother, Clifford Ross, of Hamilton, OH and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Ron Ross, on June 10, 2010.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 31 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 30 at the funeral home.
