Mr. Daren J. “Luey†Smith, 46, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6.
He was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 16, 1970 to William Earl and Wilma Jean Brandenburg Smith. He was a 1989 graduate of Northeastern High School and went on to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University.
Daren was a project manager for Norwood Construction. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing music, farming and learning. He was a talented builder and designer and was a member of the Richmond Farmer’s Market as well as the Church of Christ.
Daren will be missed by his wife, Lisa, whom he married on September 20, 1999; sons, Joshua Smith and Dustin Smith; daughter, Preslie Smith; granddaughter, Carsyn Smith; his parents; sisters & brothers-in-law, Tammy & Scott Lacey and Karen, his twin, & Rodney Stewart; brothers and sisters-in-law, John & Ronda Smith, Jeff & Jill Smith and Billy & Debbie Smith; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Bro. Jake Mabry will conduct a funeral ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Webster Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the funeral home.
