Donald "Smitty" Smith, Jr.

   Donald B. “Smitty” Smith, Jr, 62, of Fountain City, passed away on Saturday December 26, 2020.  
   He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 22, 1958, the son of Donald B. Sr. and Nellie Grace Mercer Smith, both of whom preceded him in death.
   Donald was a US Navy veteran. He worked 13 years for AmCast before becoming a truck driver. He was raised in Baltimore but his heart was always in West Virginia, where he spent a lot of time camping and fishing. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Baltimore Orioles and the Colts. It took him a while to warm up to the “Indianapolis” Colts but he eventually became a season ticket holder. Donald enjoyed fishing and spent many days along the banks of the pond at the Richmond Conservation Club, where he was a member.
   Donald is survived by his wife of 34 years, Belinda Kaye Duckett Smith; daughter, Nicki Smith; sister, Diane Parish & husband, Bob; brother, David Smith & wife, Wanita; nephews, Brian Smith & wife, Kristin and Matthew Smith & wife, Kristen; and many special friends and family members.
   A public memorial gathering will be planned at a later date when all friends and family can attend.
