Dorothy Detweiler, 69, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at her daughterâs home.
She was born on March 11, 1945 in Richmond, Indiana to Vernon and Helen Baldwin Shockney and was a 1962 graduate of Williamsburg High School. She married Jon Detweiler on November 11, 1961. They were blessed with four children and 47 years of marriage before his death on April 19, 2009.
Dorothy was formerly employed by York Casket in Lynn and co-owned & operated Detweilerâs Trophies for several years. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed cheering her kids and grandkids from the sidelines as a Bleacher Mom and Grandma.
Dorothy will be missed by her daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Jeff Coy; sons & daughters-in-law, John & Rhonda Detweiler, Steve & Hollie Detweiler and Mark & Jennifer Detweiler; 10 grandchildren, Connor Detweiler, Olivia Detweiler, Zeb Detweiler, Kati Detweiler, Maci Detweiler, Whitney Detweiler, Betsie Sams and her husband, Ryan, Logan Perry, Dawson Perry and Carter Jon Detweiler; one great-grandson, Mason Sams; sisters, Kathy Ketron and Annie Stewart; brothers, Roy Shockney and Larry Shockney; and several nieces & nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Virgil and Gary Shockney.
Pastor Keith Vincent will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North, Richmond. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at the church.
