Eddie Ray Garrett, 91, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday morning, February 11.
He was born in Bloomingsport, Indiana on June 2, 1926 to Ora Ray and Viola Lynn Replogle Garrett. He was a US Navy veteran of World War Two serving in the Seabees both aboard ships and ashore in the Marshall Islands and Kwajalein Islands.
Mr. Garrett returned home from the war and married the former Rozella Ward on November 29, 1947. They were blessed with three children. He worked as a painter all of his life. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and tending his garden, mowing grass and fishing.
Mr. Garrett will be missed by his wife of 70 years, Rozella Garrett; children, Larry R. Garrett and his wife, Barb, Marvin Garrett, and Darlene Haines and her husband, Bud; grandchildren, Rhonda Garrett, Kathy Garrett-Goodrum, Darren Garrett, Troy Garrett, Wade Garrett and Matt Haines; great-grandchildren, Savannah Garrett, Tyler Garrett, Johnathan Garrett, Sara Garrett, Amanda Garrett, Cody Cronk and Shawna Cronk; great-great-grandchild, Aiden Garrett; sisters, Jody Fernung, Margaret Hall, Linda Orman and her husband, Dean; Donna Maes, Carrie Sue Miller and her husband, Dalas, Mona Jack; and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marjorie Daugherty, Norma Garrett and Nina Manley; and brother, Russell Garrett.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Graveside military rites will be rendered by the Wayne County Honor Guard at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14 in Economy Cemetery.
