Edwin David Baker, Sr.

June 25, 1935 — March 7, 2011

   Edwin David “Ed” Baker, Sr., 75, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, at his home with his family at his side.
    He was born June 25, 1935 in Spartanburg to David H. and Esther Setser Baker. He was a 1954 graduate of Whitewater High School. He married the former Margaret “Peggy” Sieweke on June 28, 1956. Their union was blessed with 4 sons and 1 daughter.
   Edwin lived in the Fountain City area most of his life. He started out farming and later worked at Dille-McGuire before taking a job at Richmond Gear. He was a spinner operator for 24 years at Perfect Circle/Dana Corporation before his retirement. He was a member of the Whitewater Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, camping and going to auctions.
   Edwin will be missed by his wife, Peggy; daughter & son-in-law, Brenda & Jim Schroeder, of Shelbyville; 4 sons; Edwin David Baker, Jr., of Richmond; Duane Lee Baker and his wife, Kim, of Williamsburg; Kevin Michael Baker and Donald Eugene Baker and his wife, Shawntel, all of Richmond; 1 brother, Harold Baker and his wife, Becky, of Richmond; 2 sisters, Patty Malloris, of Richmond and Joyce Graham and her husband, Shelby, of Albany, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Cyrena Baker, of Prosperity, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, with 3 on the way, and several nieces and nephews.
   Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, James B. “Jim” Baker, Sr. and Dewayne Baker; 1 nephew, Mike Baker and a brother-in-law, Richard Malloris.
   Rev. Amanda Hines will conduct a funeral ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
   Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Christian Church, 100 South 10th Street, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
