Evelyn Bivens

Mrs. Evelyn Bivens, 85, of Richmond, passed away at Reid Hospital on Friday, January 25, 2008.


She was born December 5, 1922, to Robert and Iva Kerr Henderson in Maryville, Tennessee. She was united in marriage to Edward J. Bivens. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter and two sons. Mrs. Bivens lived most of her life in the Richmond community and was a homemaker and a member of the Central Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Northeastern Home Ec Club and the Fidelis Home Ec Club.


Mrs. Bivens will be missed by her daughter, Mary Ann Bivens, of Riverview, Florida; her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Jo Bivens of Richmond and Don and Mary Bivens of Muncie; 5 grandchildren, Carrie Bivens, Sarah Witt and her husband, Ray, Morgan, Meaghan and Matthew Bivens; 3 great-grandchildren and cousins Lorene Smith and her husband, Jeff, of Maryville, Tennessee; Frank Kerr, of Michigan and Lamar Kerr, of Dayton, Ohio.


Mrs. Bivens was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward J. Bivens, in March 2000; two brothers, Dennis and Raymond Henderson.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Sam Smith at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Earlham Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, at the funeral home.
