Farell S. âStevieâ Van Winkle, 66, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 15, at Reid Hospital.
He was born on June 7, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana to Charles N. & Margaret Ladd Van Winkle. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1964 and later served as a combat medic in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He had formerly worked as a truck driver and later as an electrician for 12 years. He devoted his later years to helping others whenever he could. He enjoyed hitting golf balls and fishing. He was a member of American Legion Post 65 and attended the Fountain City Wesleyan Church.
Farell will be missed by his wife, Jolene, whom he married on February 9, 2001; daughter & son-in-law, Deborah & Cory Shepherd; son & daughter-in-law, Chadd & Michelle Van Winkle; three grandchildren, Brooklin, Vincent and Claudia; two great-grandchildren, Javen and Bentlee; brother, Jarrod Van Winkle; and special nieces, Jarika, Sunder and Brandalynn.
Farell was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Van Winkle.
Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Other services will be held at a later date.
