Georgette Otchy, 92, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Reid Health in Richmond.
She was born in Montreal, Canada on May 18, 1923 and became a US citizen on March 12, 1951, at the time residing in East Orange, New Jersey. She loved children and spent many years babysitting and working as a teacher’s aide at Battle Hill Elementary School in Union, New Jersey. She moved to Richmond, Indiana in 1996 to enjoy and help raise her grandsons, Tyler and Dylan DeGraw. She was a selfless and very easygoing lady who was easy to befriend. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting and sewing.
Mrs. Otchy will be missed by her daughter, Lisa DeGraw; sons, Joe Otchy, Jr. (Jayne); Michael Otchy (Ann); and Robert Otchy; grandchildren, Jonah Otchy, Jennifer Otchy, Michelle Otchy, Tyler DeGraw and Dylan DeGraw; great-granddaughters, Georgiana Otchy, Veronica Otchy and Elizabeth Otchy; dear friends Norma and Frank DeGraw, Susan Ameika, Mella Orlando, Patty Bland, James Lyons, Tammy Hale and Jennifer Odom.
Private services will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged for Reid Hospice, 1100 Reid Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374.
