James E. Shock

Mr. James E. "Jim" Shock, 74, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, December 30, at his residence.


Born October 9, 1933 in Hagerstown, he was the son of Harold and Irene Pegg Shock, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was united in marriage to the former Rosetta McKillip on April 9, 1955, a union which was blessed with one daughter and two sons. He enjoyed working with his hands doing many tasks with mechanical things as well as building projects. He worked 39 years with the Wayne County Highway Department, retiring as a grader operator in 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and family.


Mr. Shock will be missed by his wife, Rosetta; his daughter, Tracey McDermitt and her fiance', Dennis Frame, of Williamsburg; two sons, Jeff Shock and his wife, Katrina, of Greens Fork and Greg Shock, of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Jennifer Warvel and her husband, Brent, Matthew McDermitt and his fiancee', Tami Vance; Danielle Shock, Damon Shock and Delaney Shock; three great-grandchildren, Ella Warvel, Gabriel Warvel and Lily Vance-McDermitt; one sister, Pat Pierce, of Hagerstown and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, Mr. Shock was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Shock and his son-in-law, Dennis McDermitt, and a special friend, Wayne Loudy.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Neil Bell at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, at the funeral home.
