Jane Schneider Braund, 83, of the New Madison, Ohio and Whitewater, Indiana communities, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2014.
She was born on May 23, 1930 in Richmond, Indiana to John Manning and Doris Abel Burgess. She was a 1949 graduate of Whitewater High School. She married David E. Schneider on June 4, 1950 and shared nearly 31 years of marriage until his death on March 9, 1981. During that time, she was a homemaker and farmerâs wife in a home that was blessed with five children.
On April 28, 1984, Jane married Delbert Braund of New Madison. She continued as a homemaker and funeral directorâs wife until their retirement.
Jane was a lifelong member of the Whitewater United Methodist Church, where she served as superintendent of the childrenâs department and led the UMYF. She was active in the United Methodist Womenâs Society there and was a past treasurer and president. She also served the society and was past vice-president at the New Madison United Methodist Church, where she was also a member. She enjoyed her years in Bible Study Fellowship in Richmond, her involvement in the Fire Belles of the New Madison Volunteer Fire Department, and serving with the National Farmerâs Organization, where she was a past treasurer.
Jane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making wreaths and scrapbooking.
Jane will be missed by her husband, Delbert Braund, Sr.; daughters & sons-in-law, Jody & Michael Roll and Gwen & Barry Tinkle; sons & daughters-in-law, Mike & Cavela Schneider, David & Nonalee Schneider, Steve & Jenny Schneider and Del, Jr. & Karen Braund; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sister, Barbara Hunt; and brother & sister-in-law, John Pierre & Audrey Burgess; and several nieces & nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, son, Johnny Schneider in 1964; sister, Pat France in 2013 and brother, Joseph Abel Burgess in 2012.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the Whitewater United Methodist Church,. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
