Janet Rose Harris, 85, of Fountain City, passed away on Friday, January 4, at Reid Health.
She was born on April 10, 1933 in Boston, Indiana to Lawrence B. and Blanche Miller Austerman. She graduated from Richmond High School. She married Warren Keith Harris on June 28, 1952. They were blessed with nearly 61 years of marriage and four children before his death on June 13, 2013.
Mrs. Harris was a member of the Whitewater Christian Church. She formerly worked at First National Bank in Richmond before becoming an Avon Lady, which she was for many years. She was a leader of the Loyal Girls 4-H Club. Mrs. Harris enjoyed cooking for her family, crafting and making teddy bears.
Mrs. Harris will be missed by her daughters & sons-in-law, Diana & Jim Cox, Denise & Larry Thomas and Jennifer & Troy Bledsoe; son, Gary Harris and his companion, Jean Austerman; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Kevin, Nathan and Stephen Cox, Tricia and Trent Harris, Melissa Sparks, Matthew Thomas, Meghan Hollinger and Seth Bledsoe; 10 great-grandchildren, Jaya, Arya and T.J. Cox, Emma Bledsoe-Ryan, Easton Hollinger, Elias Hollinger, Lucas Bledsoe, Nadia Harris Mikasser, Amira Harris Mikasser and Maylee Harris.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister, Joyce Holthaus.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, at the funeral home.
