Jay Mayberry, 75, of New Paris, OH, formerly of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, at Golden Living Golden Rule.
He was born on March 31, 1940 in Union County, Indiana to Lewis and Viola Larkey Mayberry. He farmed most of his life and was formerly employed by Wallace Metal and J.M. Hutton in Richmond.
Mr. Mayberry will be missed by his daughter & son-in-law, Linda & John Martin; son-in-law, Dan Zurcher; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James Roudabaugh and Leroy Mayberry and his wife, Linda.
Mr. Mayberry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 55 years, Betty Mayberry, who he married on February 26, 1960 and passed away on on September 1, 2015; daughter, Kathy Jean Zurcher, in 2002; twin brother, Ray Mayberry, in 2014; brothers, Philip Mayberry, in 2005 and Ernie Roudabaugh; and sisters, Thelma Jordan, Louise Greene and Ruby Tague.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m.â1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, at the funeral home.
