Jean Saylor, 86, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, at Arbor Trace of Richmond.
Mrs. Saylor was born on November 19, 1929 in Mount Vernon, Kentucky to Robert Isaac and Gladys Mullins Abney. She had lived in the Lynn area since 1951. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse prior to entering a career in nursing. She was a registered nurse at Richmond State Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 2003 after 24 years of service. Mrs. Saylor was a faithful member of Lynn Friends Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.
Mrs. Saylor will be missed by her daughters & sons-in-law, Ann & Bill Pearson and Kathy & Mark Wright; son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Kathy Saylor; grandchildren, Brad Saylor and his wife, Mendy; Joseph Saylor and his wife, Hope; Karman Wright, Gabe Wright and his wife, Ashley; Austin Pearson and Aaron Pearson; great-grandchildren, Tylor, Jordan, Wyatt, Mia, Logan, Ally and Landon; brothers, Dennis Abney, David Abney and Donald Abney; and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Saylor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Estill Saylor, on July 7, 2007; great-grandson, Braden Saylor and sister, Mary McCollum.
Pastor Scott Miller will conduct a funeral ceremony 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, at the Lynn Friends Church, 311 South Main Street in Lynn. Interment will follow in Spartanburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, at the church.
