Jerry L. Lane aka "Tool"

   Jerry Lee Lane, aka “Tool”, 72, of Williamsburg, passed away on Friday evening, March 1, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

   Jerry was born in Winchester, Indiana on January 28, 1952 to Ralph Edwin & Martha Verda Williams Lane. Growing up, Jerry was active in 4-H. He was a 1971 graduate of Northeastern High School, where he was active in FFA and ran track, cross country, and played on the baseball and basketball teams. He went on to attend Lincoln Technical Institute, graduating in 1973.

    Jerry began farming in 1976, working the land around Williamsburg until his last harvest in 2023. He formerly coached baseball and basketball and was a generous supporter of the Williamsburg Youth League and the Williamsburg Area Community Center. Jerry enjoyed watching NASCAR and was involved in tractor pulling in the past. He collected old tractor toys and also enjoyed collecting big-boy toys, represented by his collection of Classic Chevys. Bowtie all the way! In recent years, Jerry enjoyed watching his grandson, Decklin, play sports. 

   Jerry will be missed by his daughter & son-in-law, Brandi & Mike Edwards; two grandsons, Daxton Edwards, Decklin Edwards; sister & brother-in-law, Debbie & Ron Ballenger; brother & sister-in-law, Daryl & Terri Lane; two nephews, one great-niece and three great nephews, with three more greats on the way. Jerry will also be missed by his many car buddy friends, farming friends and lady friends.

    Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Skylee Marie Edwards.

    Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, March 11, at the Williamsburg Community Center, 8500 North Centerville Road in Williamsburg.

   A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Williamsburg Area Community Center. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. 

   If you plan to attend, please wear your flannels, John Deere, car shirts, and jeans. Hats are welcome too in honor of Tool.
