Jerry Lee Peed, 78, of Farmland, passed away on Sunday, May 17, at Reid Hospital after a short diagnosis of cancer.
He was born on January 26, 1937 in New Castle, Indiana, Indiana to George and Mildred Pierce Peed. He worked as a farmer and truck driver before retiring. He was a very special man in many ways. He loved being in the country and helping on his farm, if nothing more than leaning on the hood of his truck or watching what was going on. He loved listening to or watching NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon.
Jerry is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Charlene & Max Catey; sons & daughters-in-law, James & Cindy Peed and Richard & Jerri Lyn Peed; eight grandchildren, Chad Catey, Greg Catey, Sean Peed, Amanda Vance, Nathan Peed, Adam Peed, Kelly Peed and Cody Peed; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Hicks; brother & sister-in-law, Charles & Sharon Peed; and nieces & nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Werking and Betty Hoover; brothers, James Peed and Robert Peed; and his childrenâs mother, Joan Carol Martin Peed Donovan.
Jerry will be remembered in a funeral ceremony at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Batson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.â1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
