Mrs. Joan (McNutt) Chalfant, 81, of Auburn, passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 17, 2012.
She was born March 31, 1930 in the Levi Coffin House in Fountain City to Vern D. and Garnett M. (Wolfe) McNutt. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Chalfant is survived by her husband, Dr. John M. Chalfant; her children, Karen LaFollette, Linda Bane, Marca Headley; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; Dr. Chalfant’s children, Pamela (Greg) Cassady, Jonathon (Rita) Chalfant, David (Tonna) Chalfant, Brenda Reed (fiancé Dave Johnson); 10 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Hegevus and Joyce Eavey.
Mrs. Chalfant was preceded in death by her parents and son, Fred Bane.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, at the funeral home.
