Joan Seider

 Joan Elaine Seider, 71, of Decatur, IL passed away at 8:00 A.M. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. 

 Joan was born on April 13, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Boyd Webb and Velma (Cox) Webb. She married Robert L. Seider on June 2, 1973, in Richmond.

Joan graduated from Northeastern High School in Fountain City, Indiana and from Anderson School of Beauty in Richmond IN in 1972. She had a long career as a beautician, eventually running her own shop. She also taught cosmetology in Beauty Schools in both Richmond and in Decatur. She finished her career tending to the hairdressing needs of the residents of Lincoln Manor Nursing Home. 

Joan particularly enjoyed watching her sons and grandsons participate in sports and other activities as they grew up. She was an active member of the Stephen Decatur Booster Club and gained something of a reputation as a popcorn popper for football and basketball games. She also spent several years running the grill at the Decatur Gun Club. She attended Baptist Churches in Richmond and Decatur.

 She is survived by her mother, Velma: her husband of 51 years, Bob: two sons, Chris (Danielle) and Tim (Amanda); two grandsons Aiden (Nicky) and Tucker; two sisters, Joyce McKinney (Mike) and Anita Shaffer, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd.

 Visitation for Joan will be on Saturday, October 5, from 10:00–11:00 A.M. at Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M., followed by interment in Willow Grove Cemetery.
