John P. âDependable Johnâ Pearson, 80, of Whitewater, passed away on Friday morning, August 31, at Golden Living Oak Park in Richmond.
He was born May 6, 1932 in New Madison, Ohio to L.D. and Rose Mabel Phyillaier Pearson. He was a 1950 graduate of New Madison High School and served on the island of Guam with the US Navy during the Korean War. He married the former Elinor Jean Erk on May 23, 1954 and they raised 4 sons together.
Dependable John, as he was widely known, owned & operated Pearson Plumbing and Electric for many years. He enjoyed tinkering and was proud of the unique 2-wheeled cars he built, which he often drove in area parades for many years. He enjoyed restoring and collecting antique tractors and devoted himself to being a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Whitewater Christian Church.
John will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Elinor Jean Pearson, of Whitewater; 3 sons, Danny Pearson and his wife, Brenda, of Richmond; Jerry Pearson, of Centerville; Tom Pearson and his wife, Rita, of Beaverton, Oregon; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Carol Stark, of Chandler, Arizona and June Burleson, of Winchester; 1 brother, Donald Pearson, of Hollansburg, Ohio; and several nieces & nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Terry Pearson, in 2006.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Larry Girdwood at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, at the funeral home.
