John H. Schroeder, 77, of Lynn, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 13.
He was born in Bloomingport, Indiana on August 25, 1945 to Lowell Edward “Sparky” & Ella Naomi Hunt Schroeder. He was a 1964 graduate of Lynn High School, the last graduating class from LHS before consolidation. John served 4 years in the US Navy and saw service in the Vietnam War. He farmed as a kid and teenager. After his discharge from the Navy, he farmed part-time and began a career as an electrician, working for Berry Electric. He started his own business in the early 80s and owned & operated Schroeder Electric for many years. John was a faithful and active member of New Liberty Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Men for Missions Winchester Council, Gideons International and served as Treasurer of the Men's Midwest Fellowship Conference. In his spare time, he used to enjoy Square Dancing and liked to go camping and fishing.
John will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Linda Schroeder; daughter & son-in-law, Laura & Greg Warvel; son & daughter-in-law, Eric & Kimberly Schroeder; grandchildren, Abbie Payne & husband, Jacob, and Joshua Taylor Parsley & wife, Lauryn; great-grandchildren, Ryan Payne, Knox Parsley and Oliver Parsley; brother, Charlie Schroeder; and his maternal aunt, Ruby McCormick.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Schroeder.
Visitation for John will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at New Liberty Christian Church, 605 West 700 South, Lynn.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Dale Bales at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22 at the church. Interment with military rites will follow in New Liberty Cemetery.
