H. June Adams, 89, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 5.
June was born on February 26, 1925 in Richmond to Howard and Georgia Bowen Parker. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1943 and on July 12, 1946, she married William Eugene Adams. They were blessed with four children and 29 years of marriage before his death on February 26, 1976.
June was always a hard worker, beginning when she helped out at her fatherâs furniture store early in life. She began working at Perfect Circle after high school and later worked at Sears for many years. June was a faithful member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church and had been active in the Golden Years Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening and canning and freezing her harvest. She always enjoyed being hospitable to her house guests. June enjoyed IU basketball and reading. For years, she was a fixture at area athletic events as she enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete.
June will be missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ted & Fonda Adams, Billy (Gus) & Linda Adams and Max & Laura Adams; eight grandchildren, Greg, Matt, Samantha, Lindsay, Joe, Kelly, Ben and Hannah; three great-grandchildren, Elise, Luke and Noah, plus another soon to be born.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda N. Adams, on June 11, 1988; sisters, Mildred Raper, Maxine Miller, Jeannette Parker; brother, Bill Parker.
Pastor David Anderson will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, at the funeral home.
