Mrs. A. June Brookshear, 93, of Fountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22.
June was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on May 20, 1931 to William Henry & Grace Lois Williams Garrett. She married Allen E. Brookshear on July 25, 1950. They were blessed with two sons and 68 years of marriage before his death on September 8, 2018.
Mrs. Brookshear was a member of the Fellowship Church of Richmond where she served as a Sunday School teacher and Children’s Church leader for many years. She formerly worked at Perfect Circle and was also a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and crafting.
Mrs. Brookshear will be missed by her son, Neal Brookshear & wife, Jeannie; son, Kevin Brookshear & wife, Peggy; five grandchildren, Cody Brookshear (Lori), Megan Brookshear, Chase Brookshear & fiancée’, Qianqian Peng; Tyler Brookshear, Brandon Brookshear & wife, Emily; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Dallas, Corinne and Ethan; nieces, Diane Nicholson and Diane Peake; nephews, Gary Voiles, Greg Vest, Rick Brookshear and Bruce Brookshear.
Mrs. Brookshear was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Helen “Tootsie” Voiles and Loraine McConkey; a brother, Alvin Russell Garrett; and niece, Beverly Whitaker.
Mrs. Brookshear’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Pastor John Maples will officiate. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, at the funeral home.
