Kari L. Johnson, 38, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 31.
Kari was born on May 9, 1975 in Richmond. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1993 and earned her Associates Degree from IU East. She married Craig Johnson on September 26, 1998. They were raising their three sons together in a Christian home as members of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church. Kari was a substitute teacher and teachers aide at Northeastern Elementary School until just recently, when her health forced her to retire from the classroom way too soon. In keeping with her dedication to teaching, one of her final decisions was to offer her body to the IU Anatomical Bequeathal Program, where just maybe events will fall into place and a key to winning the battle against cancer will be discovered through her gift.
Kari will be missed by her husband, Craig; her three young sons, Caleb Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Noah Johnson; her mother, Lynn Hull Godsey; her father, Ron Castle and her brother, Jason Castle.
Kariâs life and courage will be celebrated beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North, Richmond.
An education fund for Kariâs kids is being established through the Natco Credit Union.
The Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, Fountain City, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
