Mr. Kenneth Boyd Clements, 84, of Williamsburg, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, December 11, 2010.
He was born April 7, 1926 in Fountain City to Edgar and Nellie Hiatt Clements. He graduated from Fountain City High School in 1944 and entered the US Army. He served in the Pacific Theatre for the duration of World War Two, participating in the liberation of the Philippines and later serving with the occupying forces in Japan. He answered a second call to duty to serve during the Korean War.
He married the former Sarah Arnett on July 31, 1950. Together, they raised cattle and hogs on their farm and were blessed with the birth of their son, Jan Kenneth, on October 6, 1963. Kenneth worked for 28 years at Avco. He enjoyed his German Shepherds and feeding the wild birds. He loved working with wood and completed many carpentry and construction projects. He endured many hardships but always put others before himself. He will be remembered as a good father, husband and friend.
Mr. Clements will be missed by his wife, Sarah; son, Jan Kenneth Clements, of Fountain City; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Clements and Emily Clements.
Mr. Clements was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Luella Gordon.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, at the funeral home.
