Lawrence E. âLarryâ Darr, 71, of Richmond, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 16.
Larry was born in Richmond, Indiana on October 19, 1946 to Gordon and Opal Gilliland Darr, both of whom preceded him in death. He formerly worked at RP&L and Kemper Cabinets in Richmond before taking a position at Richmond State Hospital, where he worked for 25 years before retiring as preventive maintenance foreman. Larry was a HAM radio operator. He enjoyed riding and repairing motorcycles and working on vintage cars.
Larry will be missed by his wife, the former Helen Hamm, who he married on November 3, 2000; children and step-children, William Tandy. David Darr, Susie Starn Bond and her husband, Tommy; Laurren Darr and her husband, Dr. Brad Tinkle; Ray Horn; daughters-in-law, Ashley Hamm and Lindsey Horn; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild including Allie Darr, Zachary Tinkle, Shaylee Hamm, Gabriel Stamper, Gauge Horn and Aurora Horn; sister, Mary Constant and brother, Steve Darr and his wife, Tammy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and son, Andy Hamm, in 2007; and brother, Earl Lathrop.
Larryâs life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, at the funeral home.
