Larry Gene´ Sheets Sr., 64, of Richmond, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 23. He passed away unexpectedly at home.
He was brought into this world on October 1, 1945 to his parents Theodore and Marjorie Moore Sheets. He lived in the Richmond area most of his life. He was a self-employed contractor and in recent years he enjoyed setting up at Flea Markets where he was known as "The Avon (Wo)Man". He was a member of the Middleboro United Methodist Church, Emmaus Community and a member of the Wayne County Fair Board. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing with his family and friends. His giving spirit and willingness to help others was demonstrated in his decision to become an organ and tissue donor upon his death.
He is survived by his companion of 19 years, Diane Sheets and her family; daughters and sons-in-law Margaret and Paul Durkee, Lori and Doug McCloud, all of Michigan; sons, Larry Sheets Jr., of Michigan and Jay, of California. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sister Judy Vervaet, several grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. His dog, Mandi, his pride and joy, will sadly miss him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Mervin Sheets.
Come and celebrate his life with us at Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 South US 27, Fountain City on Sunday, November 29, from 2-6 p.m. His funeral will be Monday, November 30 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Brady officiating. He will be laid to rest with his parents and brother in Glen Haven Memory Gardens near Boston.
