Mrs. Lorene Strong, 99, of Fountain City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26 at Rosebud Village.
She was born in Yorkshire, Ohio on August 1, 1916 to Lawrence and Mary Iona Thomas George. She was a homemaker, living in Fountain City most of her life. She was a member of the former Fountain City United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed playing the piano for years, and was active in the Fountain City Senior Center for many years.
Mrs. Strong will be missed by her daughters, Mary Jo Conway and Shirley Murray; four grandchildren, Virginia Nicely, Michael Conway, Sr., Scott Murray and John Murray; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister, Alberta Sword; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Strong was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank B. Strong; sons-in-law, James F. Conway, Sr. and Howard Murray; grandsons, James F. Conway, Jr. and Thomas Murray; great-grandson, Michael âMikeyâ Conway, Jr.; sisters, Thelma Rector and Gladys Johnson; and brothers, Lloyd, Louis and Glenn George.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29 in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.
