Mrs. Lucille Burdette, 98, formerly of Fountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, at Friends Fellowship Community.
She was born on December 1, 1917 in Mount Vernon, Kentucky to Victor C. and Mary Magdalene Mink Owens. She was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Burdette on July 10, 1937. They were blessed with three children and 64 years of marriage before his death on November 26, 2001.
Mrs. Burdette lived most of her life in Fountain City before moving to Richmond in 1999. She was a homemaker and farm wife on the familyâs award-winning dairy farm. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning and freezing the harvest of the big gardens she tended.
Mrs. Burdette will be missed by her daughters & sons-in-law, Vicki and Rex Ratcliffe and Patricia & Paul Sturgis; grandchildren, Jeffrey Crowe, Mitchell Crowe, Valerie Buckler, Douglas Burdette and Karen Meyers; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Crowe, Zach Crowe, Caleb Crowe, Nathan Crowe, Jeann-e Crowe, Aubrey Crowe, Jada Crowe, Holly Buckler-Reynolds, Heidi Buckler, Jesse Buckler, Jenna Buckler, Olivia Meyers, Lillian Meyers, Jasmine Meyers, Lacey Burdette, McKenna Burdette and Nate Bane; great-great-granddaughter, Willow Crowe; sisters, Kathleen Thornburg, Beatrice Eliason and Ida Frazier; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Burdette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Roger Burdette, in September 2001; great-grandson, C. Paul Crowe, in November 2005; sister, Elizabeth Jones, brothers, James Owens, Jesse Owens and Raymond Owens.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Chaplain Sandra Ward-Angell at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, at the funeral home.
