Mrs. Lucille Wickersham, 94, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21 at her residence while surrounded by many of her loving family.
She was born November 16, 1917 in Williamsburg, Indiana to Joshua Monroe and Fannie Louise Hinshaw Sharp. She was a 1935 graduate of Centerville High School and married Robert A. Wickersham on October 14, 1937. They shared 53 years of marriage and raised 5 children before his death on May 3, 1991.
Mrs. Wickersham was a homemaker all of her life but also worked very hard to help provide for her family. She would decorate cakes and re-upholster furniture in earlier years and later worked at the former Fordâs Supermarket in Centerville. She also worked 16 years as an admitting clerk at Reid Hospital. Her greatest legacy she wanted to leave behind was her love for children.
Mrs. Wickersham will be missed by sons & daughters-in-law, Ron & Susan Wickersham, of Santa Rosa, CA; Larry & Bernadette Wickersham, of Madison and Tom & Dottie Wickersham, of Columbus, OH; daughters, Judy Redmyer and her husband, John, of Columbus, OH; Carol Gardner and her companion, Randy Scruggs, of Campbellstown, OH; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Betty Lopresti.
Mrs. Wickersham was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Bill Gardner and 3 brothers, Earl, Orville and Herschel Sharp.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Tom Wickersham and The Rev. John A. Meyer at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. â 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at the funeral home.
