Margaret Lucille Harris, 90, of Richmond, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 16, at Reid Hospital in Richmond following a brief illness.
She was born September 8, 1919 in Greens Fork, Indiana to Frederick and Pearl Zina Wilson Bane. She married Harlan Eugene Harris on July 26, 1936. They raised 3 children and shared 63 years of marriage before his death in 1999.
Margaret formerly worked at Reid Hospital and was the office nurse for Dr. Eastman for 17 years. She was a faithful member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church and the Golden Years Fellowship group. She was a member and former president of the American Business Women's Association. Margaret enjoyed maintaining a spotless home and gardening.
Margaret will be missed by her son, Larry Harris, of Williamsburg; daughter-in-law, Deanna Harris, of Carlsbad, California; son-in-law, Charles Martin, of Plainfield; 7 grandchildren, Teresa Lamb, Nick Harris, Shelley Curren, Patty Barker, Brenda Martin, Lisa Naylor and Bonnie Pierce; 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, her special friend, Charles Moran, and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Gwendolyn Martin; her son, Lanny Harris, 1 great-grandson, William Joshua Smith; daughter-in-law, Jewel Harris; 4 sisters, Sarah Holcomb, Olive Kinsinger, Audrey Fenner and Marie Harrison; 2 brothers, Stewart Bane and Harold Bane.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Joel Heron at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 North US 27, Richmond. Interment will follow in Greens Fork South Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, March 19, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church.
