Martha Jane Miller, 85, passed away on Friday, January 21 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
She was born February 15, 1925 in Huntington, Indiana to James & Maude Taylor Alexander. She graduated high school in Goshen, Indiana in 1943 and married Charles W. Miller on June 4, 1944. They raised 6 children and shared 39 years of marriage before his death on June 8, 1983.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of the Fountain City United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed by International Harvester. She was active in Wayne County 4-H and Wayne County Farm Bureau, having served on various boards and as the Farm Bureau Women’s Representative in New Garden Township.
Mrs. Miller will be missed by her 3 daughters & sons-in-law, Judy & Richard Hill and Sharon & Mark Thomas, all of Fountain City; and Mary Jane & Bob Hill, of Williamsburg; 3 sons, Jim Miller and his wife, Linda and Bill Miller and his wife, Brenda, all of Fountain City; and Rob Miller and his companion, Shelley Burris, of Lynn; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles W. Miller; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Gloria Ward at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Entombment will follow in Earlham Mausoleum in Richmond.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, January 24, and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, at the funeral home.
