Mary Bryant

Mrs. Mary E. Bryant, 85, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Golden Living Center Oak Ridge in Richmond.


She was born May 30, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia to James Wesley and Pearl Bowles Spangler. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Richmond and enjoyed reading, growing flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.


Mrs. Bryant will be missed by her daughters, Janice Carender, of Williamsburg; Donna Himes and her husband, Chester, and Margie Casebolt and her husband, Steve, all of Richmond; sons Danny Bryant and his wife, Kitty, of Eagle Rick, Virginia; Alan Bryant and his wife, Diana, of Greenfield, and Mark Bryant and his wife, Marlene, of Eagle Rock, Virginia; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and her extended family in Virginia.


Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and her son-in-law, Gary Carender, on August 26, 2008.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, at the funeral home.
