   Mary Lou Griffey, 68, of Fountain City, passed away on Wednesday, November 2.

   Born on May 22, 1954 in New Castle, Indiana, she was the daughter of Stanley C. & Carol A. Sweet Market. Mary Lou was a 1972 graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Purdue University.

   Mary farmed with her family in her younger years. She later worked for Alpha Water Conditioning and proudly served as Executive Director of the Richmond High School Alumni Association from 2005-2016. She authored several books about a variety of topics of local history. Mary enjoyed visiting with people, listening to a variety of music and growing flowers.

   Mary will be missed by her sons, Mark Griffey, Michael Griffey & wife, Cara, Thomas Griffey & wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Liliana, Emma, Noah, Joseph, Eli, Lilah and Joshua; sisters, Linda Ulerich & husband, Mike, Ginny Schwab & husband, Bill, Chris Brown & husband, Tim, Marilyn Diann Market Heltzel & husband, Larry, and Debbie Turner; sister-in-law, Denise Market and several nieces & nephews.

   Mary was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Claire; brother, Donnie Market and her special companion, Bonnie Roark.

   Visitation for Mary will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.

   Mary’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9 at the funeral home, followed by interment in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.

   Memorial contributions are encouraged for the RHS Alumni Association, 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, IN 47374.
