Mildred Graves, 86, of Winchester, formerly of the Fountain City and Williamsburg area, passed away on Wednesday, March 20.
Born on July 2, 1937, in Livingston, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Ebb and Nella Mae Durham Mobley.
Mrs. Graves worked as a waitress early in life and became a stay-at-home Mom while her children were growing up. Her world changed suddenly when her husband of 32 years, Herbert E. “Bud” Graves, left her as a grieving single parent at age 52. She credited her sisters, Ruby and Pauline, for helping her through that very difficult time. Mildred went on to work in Environmental Services at Reid Hospital for10 years before retiring. She always loved a chance to go shopping for a good bargain and spending time with her family.
Mildred will be missed by her children, Vetta Weiss & husband, Luke; Cristal Howe & husband, David; Vance Graves & wife, Kim; and Trent Graves; grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Ross, Britany, Keisha, Taylor, Jerrod, Caitlin, Cody and Cole; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters, Ruby Randolph and Pauline Dixon.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
