Paul âShortyâ Frazer, 89, of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, December 15, at Arbor Trace in Richmond.
He was born January 5, 1922 in Wayne County, Indiana to James H. and Mamie Marshall Frazer. He graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1940 and married the former Mary Jane Winters on June 22, 1940. They raised 2 children and shared nearly 70 years together before her death on January 25. 2010.
Mr. Frazer served in the Pacific Theatre in the US Army during World War Two and was part of the occupying force in Japan. He returned home to Williamsburg, where he raised beef cattle on the family farm and produced maple syrup until 1951. He worked with his father at the Williamsburg Elevator and retired from Eaton Gear after 22 years of service.
Mr. Frazer served his community on the Williamsburg Fire Department and was a charter member of the Williamsburg Lions Club with 56 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 422 in Williamsburg. He enjoyed camping with his wife and friends and after retirement he enjoyed his winters in Florida, where fishing was his greatest pleasure.
Mr. Frazer will be missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Ruth Frazer, of Williamsburg; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Frazer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Diana Sue Frazer Martin; brothers, James R. Frazer and Lloyd Frazer.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment with military rites will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. Monday, December 19, at the funeral home.
