Paul McQueen

Paul McQueen, 76, passed away Saturday, September 4, at his daughter's home near Lynn.


He was born August 29, 1934 in Annville, Kentucky to George W. and Vira Bowling McQueen and was raised in the Annville Baptist Church. He graduated from high school in Jackson County, KY and earned a degree from Lees College. He married the former Delores Chasteen on January 21, 1956 and together they raised 3 children.


After a brief career as a high school teacher, he became a machinist. He was formerly employed by Richmond Gear Works, Detroit Diesel-Allison, Rand-McNally and the Indianapolis Star-News where he retired at age 67. He was a proud US Army veteran.


Mr. McQueen was active in the leadership of United Auto Workers during his working years. He enjoyed attending auction sales and dealing in used cars. He also enjoyed Colts football and racing, particularly NASCAR.


Mr. McQueen will be missed by his wife, Delores; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Paula & Brett Manning, of Lynn; Ronda & John Smith, of Centerville; 1 son and daughter-in-law, David & Rea McQueen, of Richmond; 5 grandchildren, Adam McQueen, Taylor Manning, Kyle Smith, Kinsey Smith and Valerie Manning; 1 sister, Rosemary Westerfield, of Hamilton, OH; his mother-in-law, Beulah Moberly, of Richmond; 1 niece, Vickie Turner; 1 nephew, Larry Westerfield; and his dog, Odie.


Mr. McQueen was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Gilbert Chasteen and brother-in-law, Jesse Westerfield.


Pastor Tom Govin will conduct a funeral ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard.


Family & friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September 9 at the funeral home.
