Philip R. Thompson, 65, of Bethel, passed away Wednesday, September 21.
Phil was born in Winchester, Indiana on March 20, 1951 to Lawrence âTedâ and Thelma Louise Pope Thompson, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1969 graduate of Northeastern High School. He worked 23 years at Wayne Works and 17 years at the Recycling Center before retirement. He was a member of Bethel Christian Church and had attended the Fountain City Wesleyan Church.
Phil was an avid tractor pull spectator and fisherman. He also enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and mowing yards.
Phil will be missed by his wife, the former Virginia Nichols, who he married on August 25, 1975; sons, Ted (Theo) Thompson and his wife, Paulett; Robert Gauker; daughter, DeeDee Day; grandchildren, William, Rebecca, Cai and Lily; sisters, Marsha Hayden and Joyce Brittenham and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pastor David Anderson will celebrate Philâs life at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, at the funeral home.
