Ranate D. Lanter Brock, 51, of Richmond, formerly of Fountain City, passed away Monday morning, April 2 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after suffering from an aneurysm at her home on Sunday.
Ranate was born October 25, 1960 in Wayne County, Indiana to Ted W. & Yvonne Anderson Lanter and was a 1980 graduate of Northeastern High School. She formerly worked at Bob Evans and was formerly a driver with AID Ambulance in Richmond. She was a member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church and enjoyed collecting clowns, painting and crocheting. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with the love of her life, her grandson Caleb.
Ranate will be missed by her son, Rusty Brock, of Richmond; grandson, Caleb Brock, of Richmond; mother, Yvonne Lanter, of Richmond; brothers, Rodney Lanter and his wife, Penny, of New Paris; Robbie Lanter and his wife, Kim, of Fountain City and Reagan Lanter, of Webster; 3 nieces, 1 great-niece, 1 great-nephew and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ranate was preceded in death by her father, Ted Lanter in 2008 and sister-in-law, Jolene Lanter in 2011.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Bill Parrish and Pastor David Anderson at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 US 27 North, Richmond. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
