Richard âRedâ Hawkins, 85, of Webster, passed away on Sunday, November 18.
He was born October 6, 1927 in Richmond to Earl and Emma âShortyâ Eadler Hawkins. He graduated from Webster High School in 1945, where he played on the basketball team. He was a US Navy veteran.
Mr. Hawkins worked at Belden for 24 years and played on their softball team. He later was a driver for the Wetzel Auto family for 10 years. He was a past president of the Williamsburg Lions Club and enjoyed coaching softball for many years and supporting his grandchildrenâs activities.
Mr. Hawkins will be missed by his daughter, Denise Denton, of Webster; son, Kris Hawkins, of Coweta, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Jessica McKinney, Nick Denton, Karrie Pullon and Derrick Hawkins; 7 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Harriett Hawkins, on January 6, 2010; and step-daughter, Becky Jordan.
No services are planned.
