Robert J. âBobâ Corbett, USMC (Ret.), of the Webster community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, at Reid Health in Richmond.
He was born on July 17, 1928 in Detroit Michigan.
Mr. Corbett made a career serving his country in the United States Marine Corps from the end of World War Two through the Korean War, Vietnam War and a deployment to Lebanon. He also served as a recruiter for many years. He remained active in the Marine Corps League and was a Past Commandant of the Department of Indiana and Richmond Detachment. He also formerly was a counselor and instructor at IVY Tech. He was a member and sang in the Glee Club of Richmond Masonic Lodge #196; member and Scooter Patrol member of Tarum Shrine; and member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a faithful member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Mr. Corbett will be missed by his step-son & daughter-in-law, Rick & Jana Jay; daughter & son-in-law, Debbie & Dan Peterson; grandchildren, Andrea, Alyssa, Traye, Tessa and Christy; sister-in-law, Marilyn Clarke and brother-in-law, Stuart Jay; and many nieces & nephews.
Mr. Corbett was preceded in death by his parents and wife of nearly 44 years, Margaret M. Corbett, who passed away on September 25, 2015.
Interment will take place in Webster Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 5 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City, Indiana.
