Robert D. Wiwi, 70, of Williamsburg, passed away Friday, September 4 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie with his family gathered around him.
He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 30, 1945 to Stanley F. and Melvina Dudley Wiwi. Robert was a graduate of Purdue University, where he earned his engineering degree. He worked 22 years with the US Dept. of Agriculture as a soil conservation engineer. He later worked 22 years with the City of Richmond, first as city engineer and later as the sanitation district engineer.
Robert spent much of his life serving his community and fellow man. He served as an officer in the Indiana National Guard for six years. He was a dedicated 25 year member of the Williamsburg Lions Club. He was very active in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winchester and the Knights of Columbus Council 983. He enjoyed his farm and keeping up with his grandchildrenâs activities.
Robert will be missed by his wife, Janice Reister Wiwi; his mother, Melvina Wiwi; children and spouses, Kathy & Phil Morgan, Jennifer & Steve Tom, Arlene & John Berger; Michael & Kori Wiwi and David Wiwi; 12 grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law, Barbara & Jim Hartman; brothers & sisters-in-law, Joe & Phyllis Wiwi and Stephen & Vicki Wiwi; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Wiwi.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 West Washington Street, Winchester. Interment will follow in Williamsburg.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
